About PCAC

Mission

  1. To Promote Progressive Labour Legislation and Policies at various levels of government throughout Canada.
  2. To create an awareness within the construction industry of PCAC's member's capabilities.
  3. To provide representation and a public voice for the membership.

History

The Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCAC) was established in 2000 by a group of six Open Site Construction Contractors. Their objective was to create an association that promotes progressive Labour Relations Legislation and Policies, and to provide a common voice to the construction industry on the benefits of Open Site construction.

Today PCAC represents Open Site contractors across Canada. It has made submissions to Provincial Government Committees and Construction Owners regarding the benefits of Open Site construction and the Members Progressive Labour Relations Structures.

Such benefits include:

  • No jurisdictional disputes;
  • Blended crews and cross-trade applications;
  • 100% name hire;
  • Re-hire capabilities of core employees and supervision;
  • Able to hire locally, First Nations, and across Canada with no restrictions;
  • Cost effective work schedules;
  • Able to implement innovative safety programs;
  • Able to maximize the tradesperson skills for longer working opportunities;
  • Freedom to sub-contract for the best value to the client and member.

The Members of PCAC encourage all Open Site contractors with similar Labour Relations Structures to add their voice to PCAC and show the Canadian Construction Industry that there is a better way to build Canada.
