PCA Supports Pledge to Reform Alberta Labour Laws

Alberta’s PC party achieved a strong return to government on Monday April 23, and the party’s election platform “Alberta By Design” contains important acknowledgements of policy issues advocated by the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA).  In particular, the policy document’s “Amend Alberta’s Labour Legislation” section pledges to: “enable parties to negotiate single collective agreements for all workers of a company or projects, rather than separate agreements for each trade group”; and, to “ban the imposition of fines against members who do work for non-union employers or employers with a non-signatory union”.    Both of these components are welcome and important elements of the open, fair, and competitive construction marketplace advocated-for by the PCA and its community of contractors.
