(April 3, 2020) – The Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) has advised its member companies who are impacted by today’s provincial announcement to immediately begin ceasing operations.
The Ontario government announced the closure of the vast majority of provincial businesses, including some construction projects.
“We take these directives very seriously,” said Karen Renkema VP, Ontario, for the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA). “Our member companies are already closing sites and sending workers home. We’re doing whatever it takes to protect our workers, families and communities.”
Many of PCA’s member companies continue building critical infrastructure projects that have been recognized by the province as essential.
“Site safety is paramount,” added Renkema. “Those contractors who remain on the job recognize it’s a huge responsibility. There’s no room for half measures. They must maintain the highest safety standards because lives depend on it.”
