A letter to the Prime Minister regarding Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion

April 11, 2018

The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau and Cabinet

Prime Minister of Canada
Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington Street
Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau and Cabinet:

On behalf of members of the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) we are writing to urge you and members of your government to exercise all means necessary to enforce the rule of law, uphold the constitution, and act swiftly in the national interest to get the Trans Mountain Expansion Project built.

PCA member companies employ more than 25,000 skilled workers across Canada, many of whom are responsible for major energy and infrastructure projects in British Columbia and Alberta, including the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. Our members, like all Canadians have witnessed a shameful level of politicking that has undermined the federal regulatory approval process, shaken the confidence of international investors and threatened our national resolve to get important infrastructure projects built, like Trans Mountain.

We’re asking you to bring a speedy end to the bluster and delay tactics that have pitted one province against another, worked against Canada’s economy, its reputation and its citizens, including the thousands of workers and their families, especially in rural communities, who’ve been prevented from benefiting from good paying and much needed jobs

Prime Minister Trudeau, we’re urging you to take responsibility for seeing this project through. Show Canadians that you mean what you say: that the Trans Mountain pipeline project will be built and that the rule of law will prevail.

Sincerely,

Paul de Jong

President

Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA)
