British Columbia Report – August, 2012

British Columbia finds itself in a state of campaign, which will culminate in a general election next May. PCA Executive Director, Paul de Jong, is working to ensure that it is recognized by all parties. In pursuit of this, Paul met with Premier Clark and discussed the importance of the addressing the yearly open period problem in BC’s construction labour laws. Positive acknowledgement was received on the importance of the issue and the government has committed to address the problem, but it is unlikely that this will take place prior to the election in 2013.

PCA was also able to host a table at the Vancouver Premier’s dinner, where Premier Clark and a number of key cabinet players were present.
