News Release: Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) Provides Support to University of Alberta Construction Research Project

PCA recently joined a group of construction industry stakeholders supporting a National Science & Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) chair at the University of Alberta.  Dr. Aminah Robinson Fayek was awarded the Senior Industrial Research Chair (IRC) in Strategic Construction Modeling and Delivery.  Robinson Fayek, a professor in the Hole School of Construction Engineering, said university and industry enjoy “mutual benefit by working together. “I think the two are essential to each other if we’re going to do true quality research that will lead to innovation.”

PCA is honoured to participate in this IRC with Professor Robinson Fayek, and is pleased to represent its community of progressively unionized contractors in this project, which will explore and develop the use artificial intelligence techniques to bring greater precision to planning and execution of construction projects.

In acknowledging PCA’s contribution, Professor Robinson Fayek states “It is critical that we have support and involvement from organizations such as the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada that represent a wide base of industry stakeholders, in order to carry out research that is representative of the construction industry’s needs and has a far greater potential of positively impacting the Alberta construction industry.”
