Ontario VP, Karen Renkema Named to Provincial Advisory Panel

PCA continues to be a leading voice at the Ontario Legislature. I am delighted to announce the appointment of Ontario VP, Karen Renkema to the Minister of Labour’s Construction Advisory Panel. Of the more than over 100 stakeholders who expressed an interest in joining the panel, Karen is among fourteen chosen to provide advice and counsel to The Honourable Monte McNaughton, the Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development. The panel is scheduled to meet with the minister three times yearly, once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

The panel will advise the minister on construction related issues from health and safety to labour relations. As you know, PCA has been a strong voice for progressive construction. We’ve been a leading advocate for fair and open construction tendering so that all labour groups have an equal opportunity to compete for projects and attract skilled tradespeople.

For PCA, Karen’s appointment is a great opportunity to have open and honest conversations with the minister about labour, productivity, the skilled trades, and the benefits of keeping Ontario’s construction market open and competitive.

Please join me in congratulating Karen.Paul de Jong,
President of the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA)
