PCA – CLAC Productivity Conference Report

On June 24, 2015, the Progressive Contractors Association (PCA) and CLAC jointly hosted a Productivity Conference at the CLAC Member Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

Why a Productivity Conference?  The progressive construction model is a model based on collaboration and innovation; one which creates an atmosphere for productivity to thrive.  PCA contractors and CLAC have heeded the COAA call for “Twice as safe and twice as productive by 2020”, and want to become productivity leaders in our industry.  Our contractors experience the same challenges as everyone else in the construction industry, but our goal is to take real, actionable steps to improving productivity within our sector.

The conference agenda was designed with a lineup of distinguished guest speakers in the morning, providing insight and expertise from the Project Owners’ perspective, the Union perspective, the Contractors’ perspective and the Research & Academic perspective.  For the afternoon session, we broke out into working groups to address specific questions assigned to each table, and to develop tangible recommendations for action plans.
