Karen Renkema Appointed to the Board of Directors of Skilled Trades Ontario

Toronto (January 25, 2022) – The Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) is delighted that Karen Renkema has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Skilled Trades Ontario, the new crown agency that replaces the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT).

“Modernizing Ontario’s skilled trades system and ensuring that the skilled trades are a more attractive career choice, are issues close to my heart,” said Karen Renkema, PCA’s Vice President, Ontario. “I’m honoured to be an industry voice in driving this new agency to become more responsive to the needs of employers and tradespeople alike. I’m determined to keep it focused on the job at hand, and not undermined by the political and partisan divides that OCOT became known for.”

Well-respected by government and policymakers, Renkema has been a leading advocate for construction industry employers since 2007. Her public appointment is the first for PCA since it became active in Ontario.
