PCA Statement on Line 5
With a shutdown deadline set for today by the Governor of Michigan, the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA) stands by Line 5, its benefits, and the need to keep the pipeline operating.
“Line 5 is an economic artery, the benefits of which cannot be easily dismissed,” said Paul de Jong, President of the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA). “For more than six decades this pipeline has ensured energy security for Canada and the U.S. It’s proven to be a safe, affordable and reliable source of energy on both sides of the border. The reality is that there is no plan B if Line 5 is shut down.”
Enbridge maintains it has no plans to suspend pipeline operations. A court-ordered negotiation is underway between the company and State of Michigan.
