PCA Welcomes Opportunity to Help Get Major Projects Built

(Edmonton, September 11, 2025) – The Progressive Contractors Association of Canada (PCA), whose member companies build major infrastructure and capital projects across Canada, looks forward to the opportunity to help build critical projects that Prime Minister Carney has proposed for fast-tracking.

The five projects proposed today, include expansion of LNG Canada’s export terminal in Kitimat, B.C., which PCA members helped build.

“We fully support streamlining approvals for projects that will help generate good jobs, and make Canada’s economy stronger and more independent,” said Paul de Jong, President & CEO of PCA. “But first, investors must be convinced that projects will be approved through a process that’s not only faster, but clearer and more objective. That’s critical to getting these projects over the finish line.”

PCA believes that a truly competitive construction market is key to attracting investment in Canada’s large-scale public projects. That includes a competitive bidding process and commitment that all qualified construction workers will have the chance to build these transformative projects.

“Building a stronger Canada should be about building a more competitive Canada,” added de Jong. “That’s the kind of thinking and approach that should be applied to construction, an industry that will play a crucial role in shaping a more independent national economy.”

PCA launched the Let’s Get Building campaign during the federal election, to raise public awareness about the importance of getting nation building projects underway without further delay.
